Dear Colleague,
As you probably have heard, our industry suffered a great loss with the demise of Russ Brown from Gans Ink & Supply . The education of our future employees was one of Russ' main crusades. As a matter of fact, one of the last things he did before his death was be a judge for the local VICA contest for the graphic arts programs.
The San Antonio Litho Club has taken on the task of creating an endowment fund at Texas A&M University at Commerce, TX. This endowment will be named in honor of Russ Brown and will be administered by the university. In order to be endowed by the university, the fund must have at least $5,000.00, and $10,000.00 for the grants to be offered to students.
The San Antonio Litho Club has committed to start the fund with $5,000.00 and to raise the additional $5,000.00 so that students can start applying for the grants by March 2000. We are asking all that knew and loved Russ to contribute to this fund. A special account was opened at Security Service Federal Credit Union and when the goal is reached, the endowment fund will be established. Your contribution will be tax-deductible and greatly appreciated by potential graphic arts students now and in the future. If you wish to be a part of this endeavor, mail your check to: Russ Brown Endowment Fund, c/o San Antonio Litho Club, 900 N.E. Loop 410, Ste D-203, San Antonio, TX 78209
Respectfully,
David Franco, President
San Antonio Litho Club
