This award was established in 1960 by the Education Council of the Graphic Arts Industry. It is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to graphic arts education while in the service of a national association. It publicly recognizes those individuals among association members who have been exceptionally farsighted and unselfish in obtaining graphic arts education.

The person selected for this award is honored at the GATF Education Council Meeting usually held in March of each year. In addition, the recipient is again honored for the achievement at the June Annual Convention of the NALC.

Candidates for this award must be a member in good standing with a local Litho club. Selection is based on the following criteria:

  1. Distinguished service to graphic arts education in the schools and in the industry.
  2. Improvement of the public image and economic well-being of the industry through an emphasis on education.
  3. Contribution to greater understanding of man power and educational needs.
  4. Effective participation in professional organizations at the national, regional and local levels.
  5. Display of leadership qualities in the community in a manner which reflects favorably on the image of the graphic arts industry.

Letters of recommendation must reach NALC headquarters no later than December 15, since nominees must be sent to the Education Council by January 10 of each year.
