Milwaukee Litho Club History

Alois Senefelder may have discovered lithography by accident, but it was with strong direction and purpose that the Milwaukee Litho Club was initiated over 50 years ago, On October 15, 1941, a group of lithographic businessmen assembled at the Eagles Club upon the suggestion of Chester A. Scheidler. This gathering was proposed to exchange ideas and create enthusiasm in the industry. The result was the birth of the Milwaukee Litho Club,

The Litho Club movement continued as Milwaukee joined nine other charter members in the NALC on January 19, 1946 in New York City. Milwaukee has been very active in building the NALC into an organization comprised of 27 member clubs and over 8,000 members. Milwaukee has hosted national conventions in 1955, 1967 and 1983, winning "Litho Club of the Year" honors in 1978 and 1979.

Our Milwaukee Litho Club has been instrumental in promoting education and fellowship among the graphic arts community. In celebration of our 50th anniversary we pause and take time to reflect back on fond memories.

Here's hoping our next 50 years will be even better!
